Hello! My name is Angel Apiado; but, my full name is Maria Angel Pie Munoz Apiado. Pretty long right? I was born in the Philippines. My family and I moved here, in U.S., about twelve years ago when I was seven years old. I came here only knowing my native language, Tagalog. I barely knew English, and it took me about two years to become fluent in the language. The image above represents my love for animals and nature. I have two cats (one of them is a kitten) and a dog. I love going hiking and camping with my dog. Currently, I am planning to major in Interpreter Education, specifically American Sign Language Interpreting for the Deaf. My love for the language began in elementary school. I joined the Sign Language Club, and since then I have always been fascinated by ASL (American Sign Language). I'm looking forward in being able to use ASL to assist those that are hard of hearing communicate and help improve their quality of life. I cannot wait to become Multilingual!
Reading and Writing is an essential part of my life for many reasons. For instance, it is a vital part of learning American Sign Language, the history of the language itself, and Deaf culture. Reading can also serve as an escape for me. I love being immersed in a book and having a "movie" play inside my head. Reading can definitely stimulate one's imagination. The type of writing that plays an important role in my life is expressive writing. It's not always easy to speak your thoughts and emotions. Writing serves as a way to let those thoughts and emotions "out".
